Press release from: Hillsides
(openPR) - Producer of “There’s Something About Mary” Visits Hillsides in Pasadena

Who: Frank Beddor will entertain and animate his second book in THE LOOKING GLASS WARS trilogy, SEEING REDD, for children in foster care who live at Hillsides, Pasadena children’s charity, and students in special education at Hillsides Education Center. Freestyle skiing champion, stuntman, actor and producer BEDDOR added “author” to his repertoire with the publication of THE LOOKING GLASS WARS, the first installment of an ALICE IN WONDERLAND-based trilogy.

Beddor runs Automatic Pictures and was the producer of the hit comedy There’s Something About Mary. Before that, Beddor was the first International Ski Federation World Cup Champion in combined freestyle skiing. His risky skills on the slopes led to a job performing the ski stunts in the cult classic John Cusack film, Better off Dead.

What: Armed with a majestic box containing an antique deck of cards and character illustrations, a trailer of his book, and other memorabilia, Beddor, during his first visit with the children, shared the back story of how THE LOOKING GLASS WARS came to life. Beddor, who was eager to visit the children at Hillsides when he heard about this safe place, will once again retell the story of SEEING REDD. Celebrating is 95th anniversary, Hillsides, a foster care children’s charity, creates safe places for children at risk and their families.

When: Tuesday, March 4, at 1:00 p.m. A Must See Presentation
Where: Hillsides’ Auditorium located at 940 Avenue 64 in Pasadena, CA 91105

Why: The story is relatable, said Beddor of his first book THE LOOKING GLASS WARS, equating Alyss’ life with that of many of the students that attend Hillsides Education Center and live at Hillsides. “It’s about the hope, the strength of imagination, and believing in who you are. The story is appropriate for this population who can use the power of imagination in their own lives.”

“I can’t think of anything more exciting than an author visiting the children and sharing his writing experience,” said Sherri Ginsberg, Hillsides’ librarian. “The first visit with Frank Beddor created enthusiasm among the children and engaged them in the book. The children are eager to see him again.”

How: Join Beddor on March 4 and share with viewers how people in the community and entertainment get involved in the lives of foster care children. For more information, call Marisol Barrios-Jordan at (310) 713-8567, (323) 254-2274 ext. 274, or e-mail: mbarriosjordan@hillsides.org.

Note to Editors: Photographers and Camerapersons will need to respect the confidentiality and privacy of children placed at the special education school and foster care charity. Photos may be taken of Frank Beddor; he has amazing photo props. Children may not be recognizable in photos and footage. Thank you.
