(openPR) - Geneva, Switzerland, 03/03/2008 – FastPictureViewer updated its image viewer for Windows Vista and XP with rating and labeling functions conforming to the Adobe XMP metadata standard.
The new functions allow photographers to rate and label pictures, on the fly, during the first review pass at the press of a key. The information captured can later be used by image organizers and cataloguers to help index, sort and select images.
The data is recorded according to the Adobe XMP standard, either directly within the image files as metadata, or as separate companion files knows as “XMP Sidecars”.
FastPictureViewer’s user-interface is minimalist and deliberately kept simple, with the aim to make the program easy to use for everyone.
Its primary purpose is to help users review and rate a large quantity of digital images and quickly make a rough pre-selection; as such it can be useful to image editors or professional and amateur photographers alike, when they need to go through hundreds if not thousands of new pictures and want to rapidly review what they’ve got, before going on with their usual post-processing workflow.
