(openPR) - Abacus, the Dorset based vehicle hire specialist, has signed an £650,000 order for 15 new Swift Sundance Lifestyle, Bolero, Voyager and the Kon-Tiki Motorhomes. Dave Wolfenden, Managing Director at Abacus, signed the contracts at the company’s Ferndown hire centre with Rob Kirk, Sales Director of Marquis Motorhomes. The high spec, fully equipped 2, 4 and 6 birth luxury 2008 models complete with air conditioning, will replace most of Abacus’s fleet for UK and continental hires, although 5 of the 2007 models will be retained to meet the growing demand from dog owners.
“Bookings for our motorhome hire are already 15% up compared to last year and through our website, the leisure sector of our hire business has attracted customers from as far as New Zealand,” said Dave Wolfenden. “Many of our customers have rebooked as they appreciate the opportunity to hire the very latest luxury motorhomes on the market with inclusive up front prices for all the extras.”
The average hire length according to the company’s records is 5 to 7 days with mileage per hire ranging from around 45 miles to the New Forest (from the Ferndown based hire centre) up to 2500 miles for destinations in southern France, Italy, Spain and Portugal, accessed through the nearby Poole ferry terminal.
The placing of the order coincided with the news that Marquis had just won the prestigious Motorhome Dealer of the Year for 2008, with the Swift Group winning the Manufacturer of the year for the same period. Rob Kirk has confirmed the new fleet will be delivered ready for the new season from March onwards. There is also to be a new try before you buy scheme announced.
