The concept of an Answers community is simple. Members ask any question to the rest of the community, from household tips to advance engineering or the nearest grocery shop, and other members answer that question within a certain time limit. Answers are rated to give an idea of their correctness and productive users earn points by giving qualitative answers.
The popularity of answer communities has been growing steadily. Upcoming answer communities seem to drive surfers away from traditional search engines by quickly providing precise and personal answers instead of long search listings. The search process also becomes more fun and rewarding for users. Currently Yahoo Answers is the most popular and broadest answer community but several smaller and more specialized answer communities try to reach particular segments of surfers.
