Accedian Networks(TM) Introduces Ethernet Service Creation

Media & Telecommunications
Press release from: Accedian Networks Inc.
(openPR) - EVC service mapping adds end-to-end Ethernet service creation capabilities to widely deployed EtherNID TM packet assurance demarcation units.

Nashville, Tennessee, February 25, 2008 – Accedian Networks TM, a leading provider of Packet Performance Assurance TM solutions for telecom, cable and wireless operators, introduced today the addition of Ethernet service creation functionality to its widely deployed EtherNID TM packet assurance demarcation units. Service mapping capabilities allow service providers to easily establish transparent Ethernet LAN services end-to-end, across multi-vendor, multi-technology and multi-carrier networks – without having to replace or reconfigure existing network elements.

Widely installed at customer premises and cell sites for service demarcation, EtherNID units are uniquely located to create Ethernet Virtual Circuits (EVCs) and assure their end-to-end performance. The EtherNID unit’s pure-hardware data-path and in-line packet processing capabilities provide advanced service mapping without affecting delay and jitter-sensitive real-time applications, such as VoIP, IPTV, video conferencing and transactional services.

Per-flow bandwidth profiling, service classification, traffic regulation and filtering provide end-to-end performance and traffic management independent of existing switching equipment. This functionality allows providers to offer premium-level Ethernet services backed by service level agreements (SLAs) that are otherwise difficult to establish over networks commonly built with equipment from multiple vendors, employing a variety of different protocols and technologies. SLAs are commonly required in business access and high-performance 4G/WiMAX wireless backhaul applications, and help providers to distinguish themselves by offering exceptional quality of service (QoS).

“EVC service creation functionality was requested by many of our customers, who currently use our Ethernet Service Assurance Platform (ESAP TM) for in-service performance validation, loopback testing and monitoring of some of the most stringent SLAs in wireless and wireline communications,” explained Patrick Ostiguy, founding President & CEO of Accedian Networks. “With complex, consolidated and converged networks, providers are looking for a simple, cost-efficient way to create and assure Ethernet services independent of the underlying network architecture connecting their customers.”

Accedian Networks will be demonstrating their product line at the Comptel Spring Convention & Expo, February 24-27, in Nashville, TN. Patrick Ostiguy is an invited speaker at the upcoming Light Reading Wireless Backhaul Strategies Conference in Atlanta, GA.

Accedian Networks is a privately held company headquartered in Montreal, Canada.

About Accedian Networks

Accedian Networks TM is a leading provider of Packet Performance Assurance TM solutions that enable wireless operators, service providers and cable MSOs to deliver carrier-grade, packet-based applications including VoIP, IPTV, video-conferencing and transparent LAN services over Ethernet, IP/MPLS, and wireless 3G / 4G / WiMAX networks.

Accedian Networks’ Ethernet Service Assurance Platform (ESAP TM) provides in-service monitoring, loopback testing, remote troubleshooting, service management and network demarcation for high-performance wireless backhaul, business services and carrier hand-off applications. Ethernet service creation simplifies end-to-end service provisioning and enforcement without expensive network upgrades.

EtherNID TM packet assurance demarcation units allow providers to regain control of their services by establishing end-to-end, standards-based operations, administration and maintenance (OAM) over converged multi-technology and multi-provider networks, while enabling value-added services backed by assured Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
