(openPR) - Join us for The Eighth Annual Zephyrhills Celtic Festival and Highland Games on Saturday March 1 and Sunday March 2. Immerse yourself in the soul stirring sounds of the Great Highland bagpipe, root for your favorite kilted strongman in the Scottish Heavy Athletics, and marvel at the skill and grace of the Highland dancers. Enjoy day long entertainment featuring The Wild Highlanders ancient weapon demonstrations, The Irish Angels, Scotland’s own accordion virtuoso Bobby Murray, Irish born song and comedy man John Murdock, the high-tech, pub rockin’ Wyndbreakers, a blend of traditional and Celtic rock from the Hooligans, and this year’s headliner Rathkeltair, named “Best Celtic Rock Band” in 2006.. Pipe band, athletic, and dancing competitions will take place on Saturday with a not to miss awards ceremony at 4:30 pm featuring a massed band performance of over 100 pipers and drummers. The little ones can try their hand at our scaled down version of Scottish Athletics in our children’s area specially created for children 12 and under.
Sunday all of our entertainers will return along with more pipe bands performances. Also on Sunday be sure to enter an annual favorite, "Bonniest Knees" contest for kilted participants.
Friday February 29th we kick off our Celtic weekend with the annual dinner and Ceilidh at the Tampa Bay Golf & Country Club starting at 7 p.m. including live music, dancing, and ethnic dishes. For ticket information, contact Joan Serneels at 813-319-4247.
Shop with our vendors from all over the country showcasing Celtic and American dishes, clothing, jewelry, musical instruments and much more.
