ABOUT THE PLAY:
At the height of the Seventies, romance comics were in full bloom, and little girls’ minds were forever warped by their sensibilities. The Overtime Theater will present staged versions of these classic, sappy, misogynistic, chauvinistic, sexist comic books in their full glory in celebration of St. Valentine’s Day. Written verbatim from the comics – who often gave no credit for the art or the writing – and co-directed by John Poole and Kathleen Lovejoy, Sob! Choke! … LOVE! is a great show for singles, couples, triples, or whatever!!
CAST:
Sophie Bolles (will also serve as Production Foreman), Jason Lee Boyson, Stephen Brogdon, Hayley Burnside, Joanne Cabrera, David Clingan, John Poole, Martha Prentiss, and Lucy Villanueva.
PRICES:
Tickets for the show are only $9.00. Thursdays are “Roll the Dice” nights; patrons can roll the dice and pay whatever amount they roll.

The Overtime Theater was founded in 2006 by John Poole, a San Antonio theatre veteran who sought to create a theater “for people who don’t go to theater” (San Antonio Express-News). The Overtime is dedicated to providing innovative and accessible entertainment, with “fresh writing, visual art, and exciting performances” (San Antonio Current), at an affordable price. Past productions have included the popular Oedipus! The Musical and Poet Faustus; and most recently, the successful runs of Flinch Gordon and the Return of Ping the Perilous and the 2008 SAT Playwrights Festival: Viva Las Vegas.
