(openPR) - serVonic UM-software supports Microsoft Unified Communications-platform

Olching, 11th February 2008: With serVonic’s IXI-UMS Unified Messaging Server, a fax solution for the Dialogic 4000 Media Gateways is available now. The media gateways especially designed for IP-applications such as the Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 allow the connection of the platform with available PBX’s or directly with the PSTN-network. “As module of the Microsoft Unified Communications-strategy, the OCS is mainly deployed in combination with Microsoft Exchange,” says Jochen Klein, CEO of serVonic GmbH. “Fax functionality is also required very often here. The features of the Dialogic 4000 Media Gateways are strongly geared to the requirements of the OCS. This is why there are no DSP’s for the fax reception on the media gateways.” The SoftFax-method of serVonic’s unified messaging solution IXI-UMS is effective here.

As Windows-based software, IXI-UMS can be installed on the Dialogic 4000 Media Gateways directly or separately. Fax tones that are coming in via the PBX or the PSTN-network are passed on to IXI-UMS by the media gateway transparently. On the side of the software, the fax is terminated by IXI-UMS in the media gateway. “The gateways have a capacity of 60 or 120 channels for the data traffic between PBX and IP-network,“ Jochen Klein explains. “With our solution, the number of the fax channels is scalable from 2 to 60 channels, according to the need.”
