(openPR) - Heraeus Noblelight, a subsidiary of the Heraeus Organisation in Hanau, expanded its production capability in Shenyang in Northern China in December. And the sales department in Shanghai moved into new premises in January. The manufacturer of specialist light sources celebrated these events with the presentation of a glass sculpture, which depicts a Chinese dragon and was manufactured in-house in Heraeus’s own glass equipment manufacturing department

On 10th January 2008, Heraeus Noblelight moved into new office premises and a new Applications Centre in Shanghai. This had become necessary as the previous offices had gradually become too small. In recent years, the company’s activities in China have steadily increased and further expansion is planned. Moreover, the Applications Centre in Shanghai is an important factor in the winning of contracts.
At the opening, Rolf Diehl, Manager of the Infrared Division at Heraeus Noblelight, presented a glass sculpture to Dr. Chuangmin Zou, managing director of Heraeus Noblelight in China. This small work of art shows a Chinese dragon in a glass temple. It is partly gold-plated and parts of infrared emitters have been incorporated into the design. The sculpture was made by apprentice glass workers.
In December 2007, the purpose-built new production and administration building in Shenyang was opened. CEO Rainer Kuechler said during the opening ceremony: “The new building opens up new opportunities for growth for us. It is an important step to become a leading manufacturer of speciality lamps in China.” Besides lamps for optics and analytics, also infrared heaters for industrial processes and UV lamps for water disinfection are produced in Shenyang, predominantly for the Asian market.
Heraeus has been present in Hong Kong since 1974 and in Shanghai since 1994. Heraeus Noblelight, the speciality light sources company, is active in China since 2002 with its own subsidiary Heraeus Noblelight (Shenyang) Ltd., in which several previous activities were consolidated.
