A recent study from Juniper Research estimates online publishers will lose over $27 billion by 2020. Digiday reports that this figure could reach as high as $35 billion in the same period, as they scramble to find effective means to counter ad blocking.

Until now, the standard response has been to block content to users employing ad blocking. The downside to this method is that it creates a bad user experience while virtually eliminating any further profitable relationship. Consumers show extreme disgust whenever content is blocked.
