(openPR) - Clay County, FL – January 08, 2008 - Simplifile announced today that Clay County, Florida will soon be electronically recording (eRecording) land record documents such as deeds, mortgages, and reconveyances submitted by title companies, abstractors, banks, and attorneys to the Clerk’s Office through the Simplifile eRecording Service.
To introduce the public to eRecording, Clay County is hosting an eRecording kick-off meeting at 10:30 am on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 in the Clay County Courthouse, Courtroom A at 825 N. Orange Avenue in Green Cove Springs, Florida. Simplifile representatives Paul Clifford, Molly Terry and Pat Sponem will be in attendance to demonstrate the system and conduct a question and answer session.
eRecording is the process of submitting, receiving, and processing, via a secure Internet site, documents for recording that have traditionally been delivered to the county for recording by runner, express mail, or courier service. eRecording offers customers the ability to simplify and accelerate all aspects of the recording process, dramatically shortening the Gap and improving auditability.
“The Clay County Clerk’s Office is pleased to work with Simplifile to provide eRecording services to our clients,” said County Clerk, James B. Jett. According to Clerk Jett, “We are continually evaluating ways to improve the quality of our services, and believe that eRecording enables us to more efficiently record documents, eliminate document filing errors, and actually increase document security—while at the same time, work with our private sector partners, like Simplifile, to improve turn-around times and increase efficiencies. eRecording customers will now have the ability to record and track the status of documents from the convenience of their offices, using a standard Web browser.”
More than a mere trend in land record document submission, eRecording is a government priority. Federal (ESIGN) and state legislation (UETA) has established the legal basis for secure electronic recording, and dozens of states and counties are already eRecording today.
"Simplifile is thrilled to have this business relationship with the Clay County Clerk’s Office. County Clerk, James Jett, and his staff are demonstrating leadership in the national effort to make the land record submission and recording process easier and more secure through the use of technology,” said Paul Clifford, President of Simplifile. “Based on our experience providing eRecording services in recording jurisdictions nationwide—including counties in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Massachusetts, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and a number of other states—companies doing business with the Clay County Clerk’s Office will enjoy significant cost savings, productivity gains and enhanced filing and recording services by eRecording with Simplifile.”
Individuals and organizations that regularly file documents with the county are invited to attend the eRecording Seminar hosted by the Clay County Clerk’s Office and Simplifile on January 15th at 10:30 am at the Clay County Courthouse in Green Cove Springs.
