Press release from: Telux HD VoIP

Earlier this year, MergedComms Ltd launched its Telux HD VoIP platform nationally thanks to a £60k loan from the Regional Growth Fund. The loan was provided by BFS which is supported by Greater Manchester Combined Authority and provides loans to Greater Manchester businesses, helping them to grow and create or protect jobs.

The Telux platform www.teluxhd.com allows for complete customisation and integration of business phones utilising voice over internet technology. Enabling small businesses to use voice communications for growth was the vision of Managing Director, Murray Leach. Telephone conversations are still the primary medium of sales and new business conversations, with 92% of all customer interactions happening over the phone, according to leading CRM company Sales Force. Built specifically for SME’s, Telux released its first data driven B2B sales experiment using the platform’s open voice API.

The experiment originated from a Twitter Poll posing the question “Mini experiment to see if phone number impacts if/how people answer B2B calls. Which do you think has more success?” With the increase in demand for “buying local,” would the perceived origin of the call have an impact on the end user’s likelihood to answer a sales call? An overwhelming 72% of respondents believed local phone numbers would be more successful versus 9% who chose non-geographic phone numbers and 19% who felt caller ID origination would make no difference to call answering.

Telux ran the experiment on one of their internal team members whose primary focus is outbound B2B sales calls. From March 20th to April 20th, outbound calls displayed the company’s non-geographic telephone number starting 03301 whereas from April 21st to May 21st, the outbound caller ID was a local Manchester number starting 0161. After collating and analysing calls using data from the Telux user portal, the result was surprisingly different to the polling results.

47.8% of outbound sales calls made with a non-geographic 03301 telephone number were answered versus 52.9% of calls made with a local 0161 telephone number. With just over a 5% change in favor of the local number, the experiment concluded that outbound caller ID had minimal impact on likelihood of calls answered for B2B sales. Average call duration, or time spent talking with B2B prospects during cold calls, had a minor increase of 4.23 seconds demonstrating further that caller ID had little to no impact on the quality of conversations.

The caller ID origin experiment is one of multiple being tested by the Telux Platform in an attempt to define the ideal configuration of business phone systems for B2B sales. The combined experiments resulted in a total close rate increase of 22% over the one month testing period. Development of the platform allowing for the company’s experiments and growth were made possible by a £60k BFS loan. The development team are also busy developing a Nuisance Profile Engine (NPE) to manage the burden of unsolicited calls for end users.

Working to redefine business telecoms, the company recently launched their Open Voice API, inviting developers and integrators to utilise the platform for their own experiments and software developments. Find out more about Telux HD VoIP for business at www.teluxhd.com or by calling 03301 222 220.
