IoT Gateway UbiQ-100

IoT Gateway UbiQ-100

IoT Gateway is a system that connect IoT edge devices and Cloud servers. In the front-end level, it should be able to communicate with sensors deployed in the edge side and gather the data they collect through the sensor network based on the protocols used in possible applications. For example, CAN bus, EtherCAT, CANopen, Modbus, Profibus are the popular protocols used in process automation; OPC DA, OPC HDA, OPC UA in industrial control system; 1-Wire, C-Bus, Modbus, ZigBee in building automation; Modbus, Profibus in power system automation; M-Bus, Modbus, ZigBee Smart Energy 2.0 in automatic meter; AFDX, CAN bus, MOST in automobile / vehicle and so on. An ideal IoT gateway platform is scalable to support a variety of communications protocols depending on application requirements from the customers.

On the other hand, from the view of the back-end level, IoT gateway should be capable to support a variety of Cloud protocols as well, including TR-069, MQTT, OMA-DM, XMPP, AIIS, OSGI and OIC. That allows it to wirelessly transmit the data it gather to most of the Cloud platforms, such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google and Baidu. As for the wireless tunnel between the gateway and the Cloud, it must offer a wide range of protocol options as well, such as WiFi, 3G, LTE, Bluetooth, RFID, ZigBee, 6LoWPAN, SubG, IEEE 802.15.4e, an so forth, depending on the applications that users work with.

Useful information will be extracted from those data after Big Data analysis processing in the Clouds and then shared to corporate or individual users for more possible integrated applications. In a word, IoT gateway plays an important role to integrate and extend the application of both IoT and Cloud.

In many applications, IoT gateways may be at risk to be exposed to harsh environmental conditions, for example, high in-car temperatures in electric vehicles and airborne particles on the factory floors. Fanless design and extended operating temperature range may be another purchase criteria to enable installation under the harsh conditions without fear of damage to sensitive parts or components caused by dust intrusion, overheating or freezing.

Quanmax's new industrial-grade IoT Gateway named UbiQ-100 Series based on Intel® BayTrail SoC Processor, Atom™ E3815/E3825 / Celeron® N2930, is an ideal platform featuring multi-protocol support, multi-application utilization and resistance to harsh conditions mentioned above. In addition, a total solution package including hardware, software and third-party service assistance by request to help users shape a complete IoT / Cloud ecosystem. Real-time bio-monitoring is a reliable method used to assess water quality since it incorporates living organisms, such as fish and crayfish, into the aquatic sample as bio-sensors. Combining the physicochemical characteristics of aquatic environments and physiological observation on the behavioral patterns of living organisms, the status of water quality characteristics can be determined by relative comparisons. To realize such a bio-monitoring, video analytics is an important enabler. A water security system
