A new generation of mobile radio gateways
Press release from: Vierling Communications GmbH
(openPR) - ECOTEL VTM pro replaces VTM classic
Ebermannstadt, Germany – January 12, 2006. Vierling’s new Ecotel VTM pro mobile radio gateway is taking the place of its predecessor: Ecotel VTM classic. Ecotel VTM pro enables cost-effective interconnectivity between fixed and mobile radio networks. Sophisticated least cost routing (LCR) helps to optimize savings when making calls. It is also possible to interconnect several Ecotel VTM pro devices and integrate them using a central ECOTEL SIM Card Server (SCS). The system is based on Linux and is very easy to use while allowing adaptation to customer-specific applications.
Multichannel GSM / 3G gateway
ECOTEL VTM pro provides interconnectivity between mobile and landline networks via any of the up to 32 integrated GSM or UMTS channels. The device itself is connected via E1, T1 or VoIP and offers optional SS7 signaling as well as additional network management functions. With the least cost routing, each channel can access up to eight SIM cards. A total of 256 different SIM cards can be used in the device. To reduce connection charges, the device automatically selects the SIM card that offers the best rate for the current call. For example, charges will be lower when using the card associated with the network of the called party.
SIM Card Server Integration
In larger applications, it is possible to interconnect several VTM pro devices and integrate them using a central ECOTEL SIM Card Server (SCS). In this configuration, it is no longer necessary to operate local SIM cards in
VTM pro. The SIM cards can be automatically accessed by all of the gateways that are connected via a network link. SIM cards can be assigned to the different channels as required. The SIM Management Center (SMC) software developed for the SIM Card Server can also be used for central management of the local SIM cards used in VTM pro.
Linux-based system
“ECOTEL VTM pro represents a milestone in the evolution of our multichannel gateways”, explains Jürgen Krause, who is in charge of this product line at Vierling. “Unlike its predecessor, Ecotel VTM pro is Linux-based. It offers straightforward interfaces based on Linux as well as Windows which allow users to adjust LCR settings with only a few mouse clicks. VTM pro is also ready to adapt to customer-specific application scenarios. Compared to ECOTEL VTM classic, the system stability has also been bolstered.
Applications
VTM pro enables cost-effective connections between fixed and mobile radio networks. Other applications include last mile connectivity via GSM and 3G (wireless local loop, WLL), integration of mobile users, and business continuity in case of landline outage.
Technical information
Special options: Data-enabled, SIM server connection, allowing adaptation to customer-specific applications, flexible routing options
PRI (E1/T1): Up to 8 interfaces
GSM: Up to 32 channels
UMTS: Up to 32 channels
VoIP: Up to 30 channels
VoIP standard: H.323
