(openPR) - Control system improves attractiveness of public transportation in Eichsfeld County in Thuringia
Berlin, 22 November 2007 – The Thuringian EW Bus GmbH Leinefelde has awarded the contract for the introduction of a computer-supported operations control system PSItraffic/ITCS to the PSI subsidiary PSI Transcom GmbH. The contract also includes equipping 85 busses with on-board computers from Krauth Apparatebau GmbH.
The EW Bus GmbH, a company in the Eichsfeldwerke Group, is licensed to handle 38 regional bus lines and three city bus lines for the public transportation network in the county of Eichsfeld in Thuringia.
With the introduction of the modern control system PSItraffic, the EW bus passengers will receive real-time passenger information by means of displays at five main bus stations. In addition, modern text-to-speech technologies in the busses as well as displays at bus stops will also allow for digital announcement of bus stops using the on-board computer. Passengers will profit from reliable and on time connections. By using the GSM network, vehicles will become more accessible throughout the entire region.
The on-board computers from Krauth cover all the needs concerning ticketing and their modular systems provide all the services and on-board functionalities.
PSI AG develops and integrates individual solutions, on the basis of its own software, for the management of energy networks (electricity, gas, oil, water), cross-company production management (steel, mechanical engineering, automotive, logistics) and infrastructure management for telecommunications, transport and safety. PSI was founded in 1969 and currently employs more than 1,000 persons in the group. www.psitrans.de/en
