11-23-2007 01:19 PM CET | Energy & Environment

Press release from: EnOcean GmbH

Oberhaching/Munich, 14 November, 2007 – EnOcean’s Easyfit wireless, battery-free switch won the Batimat Innovation Award in Bronze across all categories at Batimat 2007, the international building exhibition held in Paris, 5-10 November. The award demonstrates EnOcean's increasing international recognition as the standard for wireless technology in intelligent green buildings. The Batimat Gold, Silver and Bronze are the highest accolades of the Innovation Awards across all categories.

The 17th Innovation Competition, organised as part of Batimat 2007, aims to highlight the most innovative products in the construction sector. This year, a total of 188 entries were submitted and 23 prizes were awarded.

Markus Brehler, EnOcean’s CEO explained, "We are proud to receive this prestigious award in France, which recognises strongly the contribution that EnOcean technology can make to running sustainable development. A growing number of building designers and operators are focussing on this issue from both an environmental and an economic perspective, and this is leading to rapidly increased interest in our technology and the products that our partners like Pyrecap and Wieland have brought to market. With Wieland having installed energy-harvesting wireless sensors from EnOcean in the new headquarter of Air France this emphatically proves that EnOcean is becoming the standard for intelligent green buildings in France as well."

EnOcean’s wireless switch also recently won the 'Best innovation in green product and services' award at Working Buildings Week, as well as the ‘Building Product Innovation Award’ at the 100% Design London Awards. Furthermore, Energy-Harvesting Powered Wireless Sensors from EnOcean have been selected as one of BuildingGreen’s 2007 Top-10 Green Building Products by the editors of Environmental Building News and GreenSpec®.

In France, EnOcean's innovative technology is marketed via specialised distributor Pyrecap, offering the technology modules, including miniaturised energy generators, radio components and design-in support, for integration in various local OEM products. Wieland is a OEM-partner with products using self-powered wireless technology from EnOcean and a system integrator for both, residential and commercial projects.

BUILDING SYSTEMS INTEGRATION AND BUILDING INTREGRATED SOLAR SYSTEMS
Optimizing energy performance in buildings requires an integrated approach to building systems design, analysis and implementation. Building-integrated Solar Systems (BISS) is an increasingly popular approach for using the building skin as a means to harvest solar energy. More recent techniques involve systems of lighting, lighting controls, sensors and shading devices all integrated with the building skin, and in turn integrated with the building HVAC systems. Such design strategies can reduce heat
