BSM vendor strengthens government customer base and broadens global reach; sees multi-vendor integration as key to overall

Managed Objects, the Business Service Management (BSM) Company, today announced impressive results for the third quarter in 2007 noting continuing strong demand for its BSM and CMDB360 solutions. Managed Objects sees demand being driven by both the company’s vendor neutral technology and its unparalleled ability to integrate and visualize disparate sources of IT management data onto a single pane of glass. This enables Managed Objects’ 300-plus customers to take a service-based approach to monitoring and managing the health, availability and performance of their IT enterprises, which in turn reduces the duration and frequency of IT outages and improves service quality.

“Managed Objects continues to generate remarkable sales traction across the United States and Europe,” said Siki Giunta, President and CEO of Managed Objects. “In addition, our growing presence in the federal and state government markets has generated new streams of revenue and the company is well positioned for sustainable growth.”

Managed Objects’ growth and reputation can be partially attributed to its core competency in integration – and specifically its vendor agnostic approach to implementing BSM and Configuration Management Database (CMDB) projects. This approach is especially popular with Global 2000 enterprises aiming to consolidate multiple IT systems management tools without jettisoning the value of those existing investments, and at the same time, hoping to avoid vendor lock-in with an incumbent vendor.

“Virtually any substantial IT installation will have a number of data sources, stored in varying formats and managed by an array of tools, whether in-house developed or third-party purchased. Managed Objects recognizes and embraces this reality by providing a large number, over 60 at last count, of adapters to leverage the existing data within the IT organization,” wrote EMA Analyst Dennis Drogseth in an October 2007 EMA Advisory Note titled, What is a CMDB System in 2007? “As part of its BSM focus, Managed Objects has ensured CMDB360 also integrates with a broad array of data repositories in real IT environments makes the product useful sooner and at lower cost. Managed Objects has adapters that integrate with data repositories in asset, configuration, network and IT management software.”

Key Q3 highlights include the following:

• Growth was fueled by new license deals, including a BSM deal inked with the US Customs and Border Protection agency and a highly competitive service level management (SLM) win at a major financial institution in the United States. Also in North America, Managed Objects racked up sizable wins with two major telecommunications giants and a configuration management database (CMDB) project with the company’s first state government customer.

• EMEA sales continued to capitalize upon strong CMDB interest and international sales bringing home deals as far-reaching as Russia, where a major bank signed with Managed Objects.

• Ranked “best” BSM solution by European analyst firm YPHISE following intensive, laboratory-based evaluation reviewing more than 180 functional and technical control items. The evaluation narrowed a long list of competitors down to five vendors including BMC, HP, IBM and Systar with Managed Objects coming out on top upon completion.

• Announced a fast-track for enterprises adopting ITIL v3 service lifecycle best practices. Managed Objects BSM accelerates v3 implementation by seamlessly integrating existing IT infrastructure management tools into one complete real-time service-driven solution – with tangible results measured in as little as 90 days.

• Continued to build out its federal sales practice for both civilian and military government sales by adding two new senior federal sales executives, including the creation of a new Vice President of Federal Sales position within the company.

“While some companies are just now joining the bandwagon, Managed Objects has been delivering on the service-centric principles of BSM for the last ten years,” added Giunta. “Our company’s growth trajectory and success validates the business need for our products as well as our proven approach to managing IT infrastructure through BSM.”
