(openPR) - VAG-Armaturen GmbH (vag-armaturen.com/en/) has extended its product range of resilient seated knife gate valves by nominal widths DN 800 and DN 1000, making the VAG ZETA® Knife Gate Valve available in all commonly used nominal sizes which now range from DN 50 to DN 1000. Depending on its nominal width, the new VAG ZETA® Knife-Gate Valve can now be used for working pressures of up to 10 bar.
This valve’s main area of application includes the conveyance of media containing solids, such as sewage water, sludge and storm water. Recently the VAG ZETA® Knife Gate Valve has become very successful in the conveyance of solids in biogas plants.
The body parts are manufactured in VAG’s own foundry and are made of high-grade EN-JL-1040 cast iron. The knife gate is made of stainless steel grade 1.4301 as a standard or, upon special request, of grade 1.4571 steel. The seals are made of NBR, a material suitable for sewage water applications. To make the valve corrosion-proof, it is coated with high-grade epoxy resin with a coating thickness of 250 my.
Its design as a wafer-type valve and lugged-type valve that can be used at the end of a pipeline allows its universal installation at full differential pressure even without a counter-flange. Due to the fully flanged design, the perfect tightness of the valve is guaranteed in both flow directions. When the valve is closed the pipeline can be dismantled on one side even under working pressure. All these advantages result in the reduction of potential installation errors during on-site assembly and thus greatly increase safety during assembly. The ZETA® Knife Gate Valve is the universal standard valve and provides the user with significant advantages as compared to other commonly available knife gate valves.
The fact that the valve is perfectly leak-free in both flow directions ensures its high operational safety which is also achieved by the integrated scraper system which keeps the knife permanently clean. In addition, the closed and compact stainless-steel sheet design provides a high degree of protection against injury which may be caused by the moving parts and at the same time serves as an efficient shield of the knife and the external actuators against adverse environmental conditions such as dust, dirt, aggressive atmosphere or the effects of high solar radiation.
Valves with nominal sizes above DN 600 are equipped with resilient PTFE slide bearings to provide optimum guiding of the knife. This new and unique ZETA guiding system prevents the knife from getting into contact with the body, thus reducing the actuating forces while at the same time increasing the service life and improving the reliable function of the valve.
One of the main tasks the designers of the new ZETA® Knife-Gate Valve had to perform was to make maintenance of the valve very easy for the user. This could be achieved by the maintenance-friendly sealing concept via a pressure-supported sealing system of the knife. The smooth, flat and incrustation-free bottom is another asset that ensures trouble-free operation resulting in consistently low actuation forces, minimum wear and tear and a long service life.
A special feature of the VAG ZETA® Knife-Gate Valve is the fact that it can be retrofitted with all available actuator types without having to be dismantled from the pipeline. Its compact body design also allows the easy and universal assembly of end position sensors to the valve.
VAG-Armaturen GmbH is an innovative and reliable partner and has defined a new standard in water and wastewater technology: dynamic, responsible and innovative.
