Partnering to Protect Children and Strengthen Families

Leisure, Entertainment, Miscellaneous
Press release from: Family Support Center
(openPR) - Great things are happening for children and families in a small town in rural Utah thanks to The Family Support Center of Southwestern Utah. They are a non-profit organization that provides a children's crisis and respite care nursery in both Cedar City and Richfield. Executive Director, Shandra Powell says, "Our goal is to ensure that every child has a safe and nurturing home environment." The services provided through the Center support parents and guardians while they strive to provide a happy and healthy future for their children. Powell went on to say, "The Center believes in a family focused, strength-based approach to support you and your children."

In addition to crisis and respite care, the Center offers free parenting education, children's classes, support groups, visitation exchange for divorced couples, and supervised visitation. Center Director, Shandra Powell is currently working on a grant to provide parenting education to seven rural counties in southern and central Utah.

The Family Support Center receives funding from various state and federal sources as well as private foundations, groups, and individuals invested in the future of our children. One local business in particular, www.gcgifts.net donates 10% of order totals to the Center. These funds allow the Center to provide high quality services at cost to families in need. GCGIFTS.NET owner, Tyler Goddard said, "During the Christmas season online sales are likely to increase significantly, which will greatly benefit the Center and families throughout southern Utah." When asked why his company has chosen to donate to the Center Goddard said, "As a parent with small children I value the services the Center provides and as a business owner I wanted to help make a difference. This partnership seemed like the perfect fit." Goddard served on the Center Board of Directors for three to four years and has devoted the past several years to serving children and families in various capacities. His company, GCGIFTS.NET sells thousands of quality home decor and gift items at discount prices locally and across the country by internet and mail orders. "With help from our customers we hope to give hundreds of dollars to the Center to help protect and strengthen families," Goddard said.
