C-suite Speaker Line-up Confirmed Includes ADNOC, Masdar, Mubadala, EDF and Engie

LONDON, 3 August 2023 - Reuters Events: Energy Transition MENA 2023 has announced an impressive cross sector speaker line-up in the summit's first wave speaker release, with the event set to take place alongside COP28 December 6-7, Dubai.

The debut summit, expanding a Reuters' globally successful energy transition event portfolio, offers a timely solution to the question private energy companies are struggling to answer right now: "Where should I be a COP28?". Curating a high profile selection of the most relevant regional public and private decision makers under one roof, Energy Transition MENA offers a clear and commercially focused agenda to catalyze the business deals and strategy shift critical to success in a rapidly developing market.

The Middle East and North Africa are undergoing an energy transition. As the world shifts away from traditional fuels, integrating renewables into the energy mix is not optional if the region aims to remain competitive. Though progress has been made, significant financial, technological, operational, and infrastructural barriers to success must be overcome. Attention turns to MENA governments in December, with the UN's 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) once again being held in the region, this year in the United Arab Emirates, Dubai. COP28 is controversially being led by Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, CEO of ADNOC Group, a major national oil company. Despite concerns, Al Jaber has outlined his precedence setting intentions as COP president, stating: "It is in our common interest to have the energy industry working alongside everyone on the solutions the world needs." Building on this sentiment, Reuters Events will be working to address how public and private energy stakeholders can align objectives and accelerate MENA's energy transition forwards.

What is Energy Transition MENA 2023?

Taking advantage of a unique localization of engaged energy executives at COP28, Energy Transition MENA distinguishes itself with an emphasis on actionable, realistic, strategy. Inspired by the World Energy Council's concept of "Energy Trilemma", 200 + high level public and private stakeholders will be brought together across three individual tracks: Security, Sustainability and Equity. Whilst high level net-zero objectives will be discussed at COP28 from a global perspective, Reuters Events point to the importance of a regionally tailored and energy focused platform which gives a voice to key players otherwise left unrepresented.

Ambitions were summarized by Reuters Event's Global Project Director, Emily Smith, stating that "We (Reuters Events) look to cater to the business critical objectives of a complete value chain. Energy systems are complex, with stakeholders across an expansive supply chain. Our agenda will be written from supply to demand."
Can the breakout event living up to high expectations? Reuters Events are confident in their formula for success, pointing to excellence being reflected across an internationally successful energy event portfolio and bolstered by Reuters' long standing relationships with regional players spanning renewables, corporate sustainability, finance, energy, EPC, and heavy industry. With a C-suite and EVP level speak lineup already secured, the summit already boasts an impressive mix of technical and strategy focused thought leaders including:

• Luc Koechlin, CEO Middle East, EDF
• Cornelius Mathes, CEO, Dii Desert Energy
• Ibrahim Al Zubi, CSO Sustainability and Climate, ADNOC
• Sophie Hildebrand, CTO, ADNOC
• Thierry Froment, CEO, Middle East, Veolia Water Technologies
• Mohammad Abdelqader El Ramahi, Chief Green Hydrogen Officer, Masdar
• Ahmed El-Hoshy , CEO, OCI and Fertiglobe
• Ahmed Baghoum , CEO, Masdar City
• Daniel Zywietz, Founder and Chairman, Enerwhere
• Gabriel de Lastours, Regional Head Energy, MENA, EBRD
