Berlin - Recognition, directed by Sharon Ryba-Kahn, premieres next month at the Portobello Film Festival in London. Launched almost two decades ago, the festival is known as the largest independent film festival in the UK. The documentary, produced by Film Base Berlin, is Ryba-Kahn's directorial debut.

This documentary, filmed in Israel, is an intimate portrait of diverse women living in the middle east. Recognition screens September 5.

The Portobello Film Festival provides a unique forum for new and up-and-coming filmmakers. According to the Independent newspaper, the festival is the biggest celebration of independent film in Europe. The festival runs from September 4 – 20.

About Film Base Berlin

Founded in 2006 by Mathias Schwerbrock, Film Base Berlin had an international hit with the film Don 2 starring Shah Rukh Khan, co-produced with the India-based Excel Entertainment. Future productions from producer Mathias Schwerbrock include The Interrogation by director Erez Pery and The Cakemaker directed by Ofir Graizer in 2015 and in 2016, the Dev Benegal-directed Bombay Samurai. Credits for Schwerbrock include line producer on the Fifth Estate, directed by Bill Condon as well as the Luc Besson-produced The Transporter television series. Currently Film Base Berlin is service-producing the European shoot of the television series The Man In The High Castle for Amazon Studios, executive produced by Ridley Scott.
