Global asset integrity leaders discuss the future of Pipeline Integrity Management in Abu Dhabi

Summit saw asset integrity leaders from across the globe congregate to discuss and debate the latest technology developments in the field of Pipeline Integrity Management

20 April, 2015, Abu Dhabi: Fleming Gulf's 5th Annual Global Pipeline Integrity and Technology Summit opened today at the Park Rotana, Abu Dhabi. Focusing on the theme "Technology that integrates Excellence", the summit featured insightful discussions regarding current market needs in order to face the challenges and issues concerning the global oil & gas pipeline industry.

The event was inaugurated by Event Chairman Noor Al Nahhas, Founder and VP Sales and Marketing, Fathom Solutions, who also presented a session on Pipeline Integrity Management using advanced software applications. Keynote presentation on the history of NDT pipeline examination was delivered by Raymond Carswell, Board member, American Society of Nondestructive Testing, Saudi Arabia Section.

Highlighting the challenges and mitigation's faced while managing pipeline integrity, Ahmed Sirwan Tuselim, Petronas - Malaysia, discussed past incidents and failures trending in offshore and onshore pipelines. A case study on the Congo International Oil & Gas company showcasing the huge potential of the Drone technology was presented by Benjamin Benharrosh, Co-founder & Director of Sales and Marketing, Delair-Tech, France.

Another important aspect addressed at the event was on damage and corrosion of pipelines. Topics addressed ranged from new methods for coating survey of underground pipelines, numerical analysis of interacting metal loss defects and applications of damage mechanisms and the use of FFS Evaluation at pipeline integrity management. Addressing these important factors were Hamid Reza Ettelaie (Iranian Oil Pipeline), Sultan Al Owaisi(PDO) and Ebrahim Khayer(Iranian Offshore Oil Company) respectively.

The first day of the conference was attended by asset integrity experts from various countries representing their organisations. Supported by The Pipeline Industry Guild and the Pigging Products and Services Association, the event saw the participation of key industry solution providers such as Fathom Solutions, Applus Velosi, AP Sensing, Fotech Solutions and Delair-Tech as sponsors and exhibitors.

Day two of the conference will witness opening remarks from Paul Rostron, past chairman, NACE UAE chapter, who will present a session on the future of pipeline corrosion control in the petrochemicals industry. Other key sessions on pipeline network practices, gas leakages and enhancing PIM will be addressed by asset integrity experts representing industry leading organisations like ADCO, Saudi Aramco and Kuwait Oil Company to name a few.
