SYCODE launches Point Cloud 1.0, a affordable and powerful reverse engineering software
Press release from: SYCODE
PR Agency: SYCODE
(openPR) - Panaji - 16th Oct, 2007 - SYCODE today launched Point Cloud 1.0, an affordable and powerful software solution for the reverse engineering industry.
"Our reverse engineering plug-ins for AutoCAD and Rhino have generated a lot of interest in the reverse engineering community”, explains Deelip Menezes, owner of SYCODE. “From the feedback that we have received we get the sense that users do not want to be restricted to AutoCAD or Rhino. So we decided to create a standalone version and the result is Point Cloud 1.0”.
Reverse engineering is basically reconstructing a solid or a surface from unorganized point cloud data. Point Cloud 1.0 can import a set of points (or a point cloud) from a text file and drape a NURBS surface over it or wrap a mesh around the points. The surface can be draped along the 6 orthogonal directions or by specifying a custom direction. There is also the facility to compensate for probe diameter. This is particularly useful when the points have been recorded by a touch probe digitizer.
Point Cloud 1.0 is a standalone application and is not dependent on any other software. It uses the OpenNURBS 3DM file format as its native format to store point, surface and mesh data. At SYCODE, we believe that there are too many proprietary file formats already out there, each coming with their own set of interoperability problems. We are making a conscious effort to keep things simple for our customers. After all, our company slogan is "software made simple". Moreover, by using the OpenNURBS 3DM format to store 3D data, we are making the data instantly accessible to a range of CAD software systems.
Point Cloud 1.0 is priced at 295 EUR per license. This is far lesser than other conventional reverse engineering software, thus making it an affordable software solution to just about everyone. It is available as a fully functional 10 day/run trial. The software comes with detailed documentation in the form of a compiled HTML help file which contains a step-by-step tutorial to get the end user started in the shortest possible time.
Detailed information about Point Cloud 1.0 and a trial download can be found at www.sycode.com/products/point_cloud/index.htm.

Comments about openPR
OpenPR ist the nicest and most clearly laid out PR platform I have seen to this day. The press releases are displayed very nicely and clearly and without any unnecessary frills.
The updates are fast and the finished release looks appealing and is clearly legible.
Even with 16 years of experience one discovers new things from time to time.
Congratulations!
Gabriele Ketterl,Director Marketing & PR, Menads
