(openPR) - Australia, 9 October 2007 - Backpacker campervans & car rentals has checked in to the Aussie travel scene with a brand new look.

Part of Australia’s largest vehicle rental operator, Backpacker has always prided itself on offering travellers the chance to explore our majestic terrain in quality campervans at low cost prices. And now it has a fresh new look, ensuring you rock up in style wherever the destination.

“From the awe-inspiring Red Centre and the Aussie Outback, to the Great Ocean Road and Bells Beach in Victoria; travellers using Backpacker campervans have the freedom to journey to exciting destinations across the country at backpacker-friendly prices,” says Nicole Bailey of Backpacker. “Backpacker provides colourful experiences at black and white prices and our renovated brand encapsulates this perfectly.”

Backpacking around Australia has long been a rite of passage for international travellers, and with growing awareness around air miles and the ever increasing number of beautiful destinations and vibrant events our country has to offer, it is becoming the mode of choice for locals as well.

Last year was a record year for international tourists, with 5.5 million visitors to Australia, making it the third record year in a row, according to the latest ABS figures, up 0.6% on 2005. International tourists are now spending $1.4 billion more overall. Of this, spending by international backpackers in Australia grew by $494 million in 2006/07 to $3 billion dollars (up 20%), while the number of international backpackers also grew by 8% to 555,900 for the financial year.*

In addition to the sleek new look, Backpacker is adding to its current fleet of Breezer sleepervans to meet growing demand.
