(openPR) - The Reykjavik to Rotterdam festival will be hosted in Rotterdam, Holland this year between 21st and 24th November. This is the second time the festival will go ahead and is organised by the Reykjavik to Foundation (www.reykjavik.to) with support from IMX (Icelandic Music Export, www.icelandicmusic.is).

Icelandic music will be represented by two highly-accomplished bands, Múm and Ghostigital, who will perform on Saturday, November 24th in the Lanterern/Venster complex in downtown Rotterdam. Múm’s highly-awaited performance will follow the release of their fourth album "Go Go Smear The Poison Ivy, Let Your Crooked Hands Be Holy" and will also introduce the new additions to the band.

Ghostigital includes ex-Sugarcubes singer and poet Einar Örn who helps create Ghostdigital’s unusual trademark blend of words, beats and sounds. Their music has been taking the noise scene by storm with its mix of Industrial, Bel Canto, Jazz, Rap, ‘80’s New Wave and Electronic music.

The Iceland Dance Company are also scheduled to perform on Friday, November 23rd. Their first piece, ‘Open Source’, will be choreographed by leading Icelandic dance-theatre artist, Helena Jónsdóttir and composed by Skúli Sverrisson. The second piece, ‘Happy New Year’, is choreographed by Rui Horta, one of Europe’s best-known choreographers.

Icelandic music has become increasingly popular in recent years and last month IMX launched its eagerly-awaited website at www.icelandicmusic.is to keep up with the demand. The one-stop resource features everything from current news and artist information to global events and gigs with Icelandic artists.

The Reykjavik to Rotterdam festival is funded by the Art and Culture Department of the City of Rotterdam.
