JAPANESE SAFETY AWARD FOR BBS-TEK
Press release from: Brigade Electronics PLC
(openPR) - The unique bbs-tek broadband sound reversing alarm from Brigade Electronics has received a further prestigious award, winning the safety category in The Automotive Accessory Grand Prix 2007, sponsored by Nikkan Jidohsha Shinbun – the leading automotive trade journal in Japan.
Yamaguchi Electric Industrial, who market the bbs-tek alarms in Japan, is confident that this award will help it expand sales especially into the growing area of environmentally friendly hybrid cars. The low engine sound level of these cars while running at low speeds, make it very difficult for people in the surrounding area to be aware of the car’s approach. The bbs-tek alarm provides a simple, safe and effective solution to the problem.
The Automotive Accessory Grand Prix screening process places great emphasis on technological product development, uniqueness and pioneering spirit rather than just sales.
The bbs-tek reversing alarm is much safer than conventional ‘bleeping’ alarms, not only because the sound is locatable, but also because it is localised to the danger area. This is a huge safety advantage over conventional ‘bleeping’ alarms, whose sound is so pervasive that it can be heard well outside the danger area, with the result that people become desensitised and ignore them.
Broadband sound does not rely on high decibels to be heard because its multiple frequencies do not have to compete with other, single frequency sounds. As a result the bbs-tek is just as effective at much lower sound levels.
Confirmation of the bbs-tek broadband sound alarm’s ability to improve safety has been recognized in other areas of the world. It has received an award from the US Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) in winning the first prize for ‘Noise Management Innovations’ in SAE ‘Environmental Excellence in Transportation Awards’. This followed the bbs-tek alarm winning the UK Noise Abatement Society’s 2003 Award for Innovation.
In recognition of its ability to eliminate noise nuisance bbs-tek has been made a mandatory requirement on all site-vehicles working on the 2012 Olympic Games.
Bbs-tek reversing alarms are suitable for all vehicle applications with models having a decibel rating of 62dB(A) up to 107dB(A).

Brigade is world market leader in reversing safety systems.
Established in 1976 by Christopher Hanson-Abbott, Chairman and CEO (pictured on the right), Brigade Electronics plc is still the only company in the world to provide a complete reverse-in-safety package for all classes of vehicle and mobile machinery.
Thirty years ago Brigade pioneered the use of Reversing Bleepers in Europe and led the way with the introduction of a full range of Reversing Safety Systems - from the ubiquitous BACKALARM reversing bleeper to the very latest in colour rear view CCTV systems, dynamic reversing sensor systems and the latest, unique, noiseless bbs-tek BACKALARM.
