How much modern society is affected by Lipodistrophia pathology ?
All around the world, it affects mostly the female gender in the superficial fat and is characterized by a gradual irregular tissue, commonly called “Orange skin”.
Generally, the woman’s normal fat deposits on the buttocks and upper part of the thighs are a striking visual contrast to normal thin upper body. About 90% of women in developed countries, where 'rich-food' is consumed in a modern assited life environment, have cellulite.
The more you are overweight the fat cells are filled. This makes cellulite more
visible than in half empty fat cells, but even slim women have cellulite. Cellulite is not about too much fat, but about the visibility of those fat cells.
Although two types of lipodistrophia pathology exist, the one affecting the entire lower female extremities (upper thigh down to the calves) or “jogpur type” from the buttocks down to the knees.
The skin is suspended from subcutaneous connective tissue. If the skin contains too much water, it is heavier. Too much water therefore stretches connective tissue and causes the skin to be puffy, and eventually to droop in some areas creating unheaven skin.
Why using a multiple rays pulse Ultrasounds ?
This new transducer treats the subcutanous fat in the region of the lower extremities applying multiple rays of ultrasonic pulse waves on the superficial tissues. This method totally non invasive can results in disappearance, more or less complete, of the orange skin aspect after very few sessions. It need to be recall that therapeutic ultrasounds induce vasodilation at skin surface level and stimulation of the fibroblast growth factor.
Cellulite is an almost exclusively female issue (though more men overweight get it too) because female fat cells are clustered in bags, arranged in vertical columns.
Medixsysteme, Engineers proposed a solution of pulsing ultrasonic beams onto the fat vertical columns at various deepness using the same ceramics.
Promissing laboratories trials are undergoing in France, with various frequency of 425 Mhz, 866Mhz, and 1.42Mhz in high frequency. The figure attached illustrates the high intensity vibration modes which can be observed when setting the frequency to that of the peaks 1.42Mhz
Those laboratories trials will validated the scientific based theory used by the research and development department of Medixsysteme.
When the technology will be available to Medical centers ?
The company will take the occasion of a SME European Innovation meeting at Medica, Dusseldorf on 15th - 16th November 2007 Hall 4, to present this new transducer. From last spring Medixsysteme has entered a programme of industrial research in biomedical technology as well as Medical Technology Thematic Group (MTTG).
In view of industrialisation and commercialisation of this new application, Medixsysteme is undergoing Capital investments negociations and the company forseen to secure 20 millions euro// 30 millions dollars from London Capital investors companies.
