Coding Effort Analytics

BlueOptima today announced support for Git, the most popular source code repository for open source projects which is increasingly being trialled and adopted within enterprises. With this, BlueOptima now supports all leading code repositories like Subversion, CVS, Rational ClearCase, Perforce and Microsoft Team Foundation Server.

BlueOptima support for Git (http://bit.ly/GitIntegration) fulfils a growing demand. One of the predominant Git hosting services, GitHub, which has grown immensely popular since its launch in 2008 and recently passed the 3 million users mark while hosting more than 5 million repositories; this makes it one of the largest libraries of computer code anywhere.
Jason Rolles, Managing Director at BlueOptima remarked, “We’re really excited about Git and what it can do for enterprise software development efficiency. As enterprises adopt Git as a source code repository it is normally the more cutting edge teams that adopt it first – verifying the benefits of Git in the context of the wider organization is challenging. Our support of Git means that software development organizations can get the same transparency across their software development portfolio through BlueOptima – CVS, ClearCase or Git based software development efficiency can be compared."

Salman Kagzi, the Head of Software Development at BlueOptima also observed that “When many organisations experiment with Git they often use cloud hosted platforms. When contemplating standardizing on Git holding the entirety of an enterprises source code outside their secure networks is not an option and so they develop in-house hosting capabilities. BlueOptima’s Integrators give you the same transparency and auditability of software development activities regardless of whether the source code repositories are hosted on the enterprise network, in the cloud, or on an outsourcing vendor’s network. Your source code stays wherever the enterprise is comfortable for it to be worked on – the transparency is surfaced where it is needed.”

BlueOptima is the only Coding Effort Analytics™ platform that accurately monitors Coding Effort in software development providing timely guidance for better quality releases and faster time to market. BlueOptima thus empowers developers, team leaders, and executives with insights that help achieve better software development outcomes, much faster, and at the lowest possible cost. This is achieved through BlueOptima’s proprietary Coding Effort Analytics™ technology, initially developed through Cambridge University More than a decade of Research & Development has culminated in BlueOptima’s highly sophisticated ability to quantify, benchmark, and analyse Coding Effort based on source code change.
