Aztecsoft wins the top honours, with NIIT Technology and HCL technologies the first and second runners up respectively
The much-awaited QAI's Testing Leadership Awards have been announced at the 7th Annual International Software Testing Conference in Bangalore. QAI's Testing Leadership awards recognizes leadership & contribution in the field of software testing. It provides impetus & encourage contribution to the testing processes, skills & principles that make testing an imperative part of the software development life cycle. It also encourages breakthrough achievements & innovative approaches in the testing process that aim to make successful products & services in the IT Industry.
The winner of QAI Testing Leadership Award 2007 was Mr Sanjay Kulkarni from Aztecsoft Ltd who submitted one of the most original and clearly the best paper titled "Practical Measurement of Outsourced Product Testing". The citation for the paper read as “This paper is a great example of a direction that more and more software organizations need to go in. It describes the development of a set of metrics to measure quality of service for outsourced product testing. This paper is a model for test organizations everywhere”.
The first runner-up were N.Gnanasekaran and Vineet Banga, from NIIT Technologies Ltd who presented a very readable paper "Automated Regression Testing Framework". The citation for the award said “the paper presents a clear step-by-step account of a successful and cost-effective implementation of automated regression testing. As automated regression testing is a necessity for contemporary testing, this paper should help more companies move more quickly acquire this important capability”.
The Second runner-up was awarded to a paper on "Creating Testing Evangelists Strategies to drive high performance from software testing teams". This paper was presented by Rajee Natesan and Ranganathan Santhanam of HCL Technologies Ltd. The citation read as “The challenge of leading a test team to high performance is difficult and under appreciated. This paper squarely addresses that oversight. Chock full of cases studies and practical ideas, this paper reminds us that testing is not just a technical activity, but a social activity done by people. And people, who are led well, perform better”.
The Software Testing Conference 2007 had over 250 author intent submissions and a final of over 175 best practices and papers received from all across India. The three-member expert jury short listed these down to the best of 80 top papers. Further analysis and evaluation brought up the Top 31 papers - which were then chosen for presentation in this conference. The final countdown by a second jury panel narrowed the competition down to the Top 10 best papers, out of which the best three got awarded.
This year QAI's expert jury consisted of international guru's like Dr. Richard Zultner, QFD Institute and Lee Copeland, SQE selected the winners from a total of 175 submissions on the latest state of the art and state of the practice in software testing and strategies being used by leading software organizations from 107 organizations in the testing arena.
