Press release from: merric enterprises

Broomfield, CO - Cyber attacks against small and medium sized businesses are increasing at an alarming rate and the financial stakes of cyber attacks are enormous. The "2012 Cost of Cyber Crime Study," released by the Ponemon Institute reports that successful cyber attacks against U.S. businesses have increased by 42% since last year. The study further points out that each cleanup from a network system breach cost an average of $592,000, a 40% increase from 2011, and takes 40 days to complete. For a small business, the costs of cyber attacks may be fatal.

In the continuing battle against cyber attacks, eSoft, an international company who specializes in network cybersecurity solutions for small and medium (SMB) businesses, has announced new updates and enhancements to its InstaGate hardware platforms.

Bud Michael, eSoft CEO stated, “These significant enhancements to eSoft’s InstaGate appliances are in direct response to the ever-increasing demands placed upon eSoft's Unified Threat Management (UTM) Systems supporting the SMB market today, and is part of eSoft’s ongoing commitment to provide the very best in network security.”

Key features of the enhancements are:
• Enhanced processor and network architecture on all models
• GB Ethernet ports on all InstaGate 404 appliances, which has resulted in a 5X increase in firewall throughput
• Two additional Ethernet ports on the InstaGate 604
• Update to eSoft's core OS and networking resulting in greater speed, efficiency, and flexibility
• Upgrade of eSoft's IPsec VPN software to further strengthen security and stability
eSoft Virtual UTM appliances are also available to deploy in a virtualized environment such as VMware and Hyper-V.

Michael added, “Between the hardware and base system software enhancements, all of our network security appliances are experiencing significant increases in speed and efficiency. These improvements offer increased network security for our valued customers.”
