(openPR) - The Scottish Open Source Awards (SCOSA) officially announces that Sun Microsystems are the main sponsors for the 2007 event.

The Scottish Open Source Awards opened on the 1st August 2007 for nominations. The awards are open to business, government, education, not-for-profit, charities and students, who contribute to or use Open Source Software or services. Nominations are invited for any Open Source project developed in Scotland and or by a Scot or team of Scots outside of Scotland. The Scottish Open Source Awards 2007 (SCOSA 2007), are being organised by SalesAgility.com Ltd, a Scottish Open Source Company. The object of the awards is to recognise and to reward those individuals and organisations in Scotland that are contributing to the growth of Open Source; to educate individuals and organisations about the benefits of using Open Source technologies; and to inspire students and young people about the creative potential of Open Source.
