Test application for Internet access
Press release from: VIERLING Communications GmbH
(openPR) - TiQoS.InternetAccess ensures high quality of service for Internet service providers and carriers
Ebermannstadt, Germany – August 16, 2007. Vierling introduces the test application TiQoS.InternetAccess as a new module for its proven TiQoS test platform. TiQoS stands for “Testing in Quality of Service”. TiQoS.InternetAccess allows Internet providers and carriers to objectively assess the quality of the Internet access and services they are providing based on defined measurement parameters. The application also allows its users to quickly respond to quality deteriorations no matter whether their customers use DSL, ISDN or analog equipment to access the Internet.
Quality tests from the customer’s perspective
The TiQoS.InternetAccess test application assesses the quality of Internet access from an end-user perspective. How long does it take to set up a connection? Is the promised bandwidth available? Are downloads working without any errors? Quality criteria of this sort have a critical influence on customer satisfaction. Service providers can use TiQoS.InternetAccess to continuously monitor the quality of their services and document this information vis-à-vis their customers. “End-to-end measurements with TiQoS.InternetAccess are useful for simulating real-world customer behavior while assessing the service quality in an objective and non-provider-dependent manner”, according to Bernhard Steger, Director Business Development at Vierling. “Besides service providers, we also have carriers using TiQoS.InternetAccess to verify their network performance.”
Scalable, non-network-dependent system
The test setup for TiQoS.InternetAccess involves remote test units (RTUs) that are connected to the Internet like end users via a DSL, ISDN or analog modem. The system also includes a TiQoS control center (TCC) and web servers that host different files for Internet performance tests. The RTUs establish connections to the web servers to download data and then assess quality parameters such as the time needed to establish a connection, the DNS resolution time and the available bandwidth. Data is downloaded via an Internet browser (http) or using the file transfer protocol (FTP). TiQoS.InternetAccess also supports VDSL.

Comments about openPR
OpenPR ist the nicest and most clearly laid out PR platform I have seen to this day. The press releases are displayed very nicely and clearly and without any unnecessary frills.
The updates are fast and the finished release looks appealing and is clearly legible.
Even with 16 years of experience one discovers new things from time to time.
Congratulations!
Gabriele Ketterl,Director Marketing & PR, Menads
