Press release from: Vicarious Productions
PR Agency: Vicarious New York

Comedian Jade Esteban Estrada has been called the "master entertainer" by the Richmond Times-Dispatch. He will play a psychiatrist in the new short film “Doldrums.’. Photo by FADELA CASTRO.
Doldrums is a story of a young man maneuvering through the minefield called High School. Emblematic teenage angst comes to bear as the story develops: grades, parent’s expectations, romance, competition, peer-pressure, parties, and an overall feeling of civic disengagement are the forces that invade the main characters life. The formative and difficult age of adolescent is a universal story that both youth and adults can relate to. Doldrums is a story about making the right choices during the high school years and how those choices will shape your life in the future.
The film stars Matthew Rigney, Paloma Bermudez, John Milton, Jaydee Thurber, Cosme Espinoza, Carlos Medina, Katherine Dishon, Lauren Moore, Molly Austad and Jade Esteban Estrada as the psychologist.
SAY Si is the executive producer and the screenplay was written by John Strong. Producers are Guillermina Zabala and Ned Meneses.
He has been featured on “The Graham Norton Effect” on Comedy Central. His music can be heard on “The Shield” on the FX Network. Other television appearances include “Friday Night Lights” on NBC and “In The Life” on PBS.
“Estrada is not an icon by accident,” raves Nicholas Snow of Notes from Hollywood. “You’ll laugh your butts off when Jade Esteban Estrada takes the stage,” warns Out Magazine. The Oklahoma Gazette calls him a “prominent and controversial gay Latin performer.” The Advocate calls him “the first gay Latin star.” The Bowling Green News calls him “one of today’s best solo performers.”
The former Charo choreographer and scratch vocalist for the Back Street Boys has been known for his highly acclaimed solo theatre shows including “Tortilla Heaven” and “ICONS: The Lesbian and Gay History of the World, Vol. 1.”
The San Antonio native began his comedic career when he won the Funniest Amateur Comic in New York Competition in 1995 at Stand Up N.Y. He has appeared at Rivercenter Comedy Club and Gotham Comedy Club among others. He was recently named “Comic of the Week” on the international comedy website thecomedygreenroom.com.
Estrada recently completed the short film “Crushed” directed by AJ Garces and begins work on the film “Callous” directed by Joey Lanai in Los Angeles in October. The actor’s self-penned book “Impersonating Sappho” is scheduled for a November release.
