ColonoscopyAssist Program brings colon cancer screenings for the uninsured to El Paso residents
Through the ColonoscopyAssist program, under-insured individuals will receive their colonoscopy procedures at the Endoscopy Center of El Paso at significantly reduced rates. The program was made possible by ColonoscopyAssist with the help of the Endoscopy Center of El Paso and its gastroenterologists who have agreed to donate some of their time and resources in an effort to bring down the cost of the expensive procedure. With the procedure usually costing well over $2000, the program offers a significant reduction in cost to those that qualify for the program.
“We are very pleased to partner with high quality, accredited centers such as The Endoscopy Center of El Paso. It shows that with some creative thinking, we are able to make the procedure accessible to the uninsured without compromising on the quality of healthcare.” says Ali Poonawala, Director at ColonoscopyAssist. “With 1 in every 20 affected by colorectal cancer, it is imperative that we do everything possible to encourage screening rates amongst the under-insured. Colonoscopies are considered the gold standard to screen and prevent colon cancer but are often avoided due to their high cost”.
