Water-Based Generation of Cleaning and Stripping Products for Microelectronics

Leipzig, Germany, February 26, 2013 – bubbles & beyond, a technology company focusing on customized intelligent fluids®, has launched lisoPUR®, a series of novel cleaning and stripping products dedicated to microelectronic applications.

As a first step, the tailor-made product portfolio consists of fluids for parts cleaning, targeted stripping and wafer stripping. bubbles & beyond starts with so called low-end and back-end applications, i.e. for the cleaning of equipment, parts and tools. Special applications in this field are catch cup cleaning (removal of photoresists), defined lift-off processes (layers of metal and other materials), as well as manual cleaning of parts and equipment such as resublimation areas, vacuum chamber parts, lacquered photo masks or anilox rollers.

There is an increasing demand for sustainable, eco-friendly cleaning products which meet highest performance criteria – and this is exactly the segment addressed by bubbles & beyond.”

For the back end production area, the company offers water-based stripping solutions based on a novel lift-off principle, which fragment and remove photo resists, dirt or debris instead of aggressively etching them off the surface. This powerful, water-based and gentle method may replace conventional agents, e.g. NMP, acids or alkaline solutions.

Apart from electronics and microelectronics, lisoPUR® solutions are also suitable for stripping during processing of OLEDs or organic solar cells.

Other potential application areas for intelligent fluids® are in printed electronics, especially cleaning parts of screenprint, gravure and flexographic printing as well as removal of conductive inks.

At the recent Nanotech in Tokyo, bubbles & beyond closed a distribution agreement with JNC (formerly CHISSO), a renowned distributor for the Asian market. In early 2013, the European distribution was assigned to S3 Alliance, a highly networked European distributor. To date, various renowned semiconductor companies have already expressed a strong interest in lisoPUR®.
