Press release from: Skyline Communications

Izegem, August, 2007 – Skyline Communications, global leader in multi-vendor network management solutions for the HFC broadband, satellite, IPTV and broadcast industry, is unveiling at IBC 2007 (booth 1.414) the new 5.0 release of its flagship DataMiner network management platform.

DataMiner, which received several prestigious industry awards, is one of the most comprehensive and widely deployed multi-vendor network management solutions in the industry, enabling operators to manage their technical ecosystem end-to-end across all vendor and technology boundaries. The new DataMiner 5.0 release will further increase the momentum of DataMiner as the leading NMS solution, and today it is already denominated by leading operators as the benchmark for the next generation NMS solutions.

DataMiner 5.0 includes, aside from a complete new and highly intuitive UI, a plethora of exciting new features. This includes for example Smart Tags providing operators instant access to relevant system and event details, user-definable web dashboards, enhanced SLA monitoring capabilities, work force schedule management, and much more. But in addition to all that, DataMiner 5.0 also includes no less than four major innovations in different areas.

DMS Customer Premises Equipment Manager (DMS-CPE) is a professional solution designed to manage high volumes of CPE devices such as modems and set-top boxes. DMS-CPE comes fully integrated with the existing DataMiner environment. This makes DataMiner the first solution in the industry capable of managing every single active component in the technical ecosystem, creating visibility from where content is created to where it is delivered. DMS-CPE offers a plethora of features for statistical data processing and intuitive navigation, and an open architecture to facilitate integration with external data sources such as inventory databases.

DMS Integrated Collaboration Environment (DMS-ICE) is an innovative new concept introduced in the DataMiner System, and an NMS industry-first, oriented at enhancing communications between the disparate users and stakeholders of the NMS environment. As part of the DataMiner 5.0 release, the DMS-ICE concept introduces two applications, DMS-ICE Chat Collaboration and DMS-ICE Online Collaboration. With DMS-ICE in place, users can more easily co-ordinate interventions in a multi-user environment and quickly access expert human resources, resulting in increased operations efficiency.

DMS Work Flow Manager (DMS-WFM) is a brand new cutting-edge technology, enabling corporations to embed operational procedures into their NMS environment, across any vendor and technology boundaries. DMS-WFM enforces procedures, enabling operators to act far more quickly and in addition with a strongly reduced margin for human error, resulting in increased operations efficiency and service availability. The new technology is expected to make significant contributions for a plethora of applications including for example configuration of complex devices, provisioning of services in digital platforms, troubleshooting complex systems, etc.

DMS Root Cause Analysis (DMS-RCA) is a powerful event correlation engine which is based on a comprehensive connectivity database, and which uses ingenious ways of highlighting for the operator the most-probable-cause of system failures. DMS-RCA comes with an intuitive connectivity database editor and open architecture features to automatically sink that database with virtually any kind of external data source. DMS-RCA enables operators instantly to identify the most probably cause in the most complex environments, and hereby effectively reducing MTTR.
