Mobile Device Management is undergoing a mayor change from pure device management tasks into mobile app management, but also mobile security management or mobile data management. Due to the trend towards business travelling roaming cost of voice and data communications increases and generates unexpected costs. Therefore specific Telecom Expense Management features and functions have to be added in many solutions.
Another trend is the requirement to integrated privately-owned mobile devices into corporate IT. Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) is a concept allowing employees to use their private device for corporate tasks. The corporation seeks to prevent from expensive investments in smartphones, their application programs and their management. The concept provides restricted corporate services and data to registered and authorized users. One goal is to shift tasks for device management to employees. How far IT concepts and information security are concerned depends on many different factors, in particularly the sensitisation of employees in their use of corporate assets and guidelines.
