Symbiosis between screen printing and digital printing ? Open House on March 1st and 2nd at Kornit Digital.

Open House on March 1st and 2nd in Ratingen / Germany

Kornit Digital and the German manufacturer of Schenk screen printing carousels, Walz GmbH, present an integrated solution combining high quality screen printing with advanced digital Direct-to-Garment technology

Kornit Paradigm builds the bridge for screen printers towards digital Direct-to-Garment (DTG) printing

Kornit Digital, worldwide leading vendor of digital DTG printers and Walz, manufacturer of the renowned Schenk screen printing carousels and longstanding distribution partner of Kornit in the German speaking territories are teaming up for an Open House event in the European subsidiary of Kornit in Düsseldorf-Ratingen. The event will be held March 1st & 2nd and is centered around their unique integrated solution combining a Schenk screen printing carousel and Kornit’s Paradigm, a digital printing machine developed specifically for the integration with conventional screen printing technology.

The primary target audience for the event is the screen printing community where digital printing is far from being disruptive technology yet it adds tremendous value to their existing screen based production capabilities.

Bridging from Screen Printing to Digital Printing
The Kornit Paradigm was specifically developed to integrate with conventional screen printing technology. By doing so it builds a bridge for screen printers to adopt digital printing. Instead of being pushed to decide between screen and digital as competing and mutually exclusive technologies, the Kornit Paradigm allows to leverage the advantages of both in a fully integrated system.

Screen printing keeps being superior to digital when it comes down to printing solids, creating special effects e.g. metalic, foil or flock printing and more generally: high-volume production. On the other hand digital printing is far superior if not a prerequisite all together when printing photographic type images, variable data as well as short runs. Furthermore digital printing offers cost advantages, because the making of print screens and their cleaning as well as setup time become obsolete.

“To combine the mutually complementary strengths of screen and digital in a fully integrated system was our objective when developing the Paradigm“, emphasizes Wilfried Kampe, Managing Director of the European subsidiary of Kornit. “A screen printer’s benefit is two fold: he strenghtens his competitive edge by means of adding tangible value to his products which eventually translates to higher margin sales. In addition he gets gradually acquainted with new technology which will become the driver for future growth instead of having to reinvent himself instantaneously as a result of performing a radical switch.“

Second Generation of Kornit Paradigm – significantly faster by twice the number of nozzles

The Kornit Paradigm uses the same inks like all other Kornit DTG printers, however, is limited to four channels for process colors: Cyan (C), Magenta (M), Yellow (Y) and Black (K). White ink is not required since a white layer, prerequisite to print CMYK onto dark garment, is faster and cheaper to produce using screen process. Kornit´s water-based pigmented inks are certified according to the “OekoTex 100® standard“. Color application is resistant to abrasion, doesn’t crack when stretched or bent and is AATCC certified for wash fastness. Thanks to a new generation of printing heads with twice the amount of nozzles (512) the Paradigm produces up to 200 prints per hour. The screen printing carousel made by Walz is a Schenk VARIprint Easy 2/8, with two printing heads and eight palettes. Next to this innovative solution Kornit presents almost their complete portfolio of DTG printers including the Avalanche DCpro, which can print up to 300 T-shirts per hour.

Framework and social program
Throughout the day speeches and lectures will take place addressing relevant questions and topics for the textile decoration market. Refreshments and snacks will be served throughout the day. On Friday evening Kornit Digital invites their guests to an evening reception.

About Kornit Digital
Kornit Digital develops, produces and distributes printing solutions for commercial and industrial use in the clothing and textile industry. Integrated pre-treatment (PreT) and water-based pigmented inks give Kornit unique features and selling points – partially protected by patents – in this industry. Besides a wide range of printing systems for the direct-to-garment market (textile direct printing) Kornit is setting up a product line for textile roll printing, which will have the same and even additional unique features referring to color chemistry, however addressing completely different market segments, e.g. the fashion industry or manufacturers of furniture fabrics.
