To support the growing demand for sophisticated embedded EtherCAT solutions, the acontis EC-Master EtherCAT Master Stack was ported now to support deeply embedded platforms without the need for an Operating System.
As a first available implementation, the high performance Texas Instruments Sitara ARM Cortex platform is supported.
TI is providing Starterware, which is a free Operating System less development platform for Sitara Microprocessors.
The acontis EC-Master EtherCAT Master stack now is supporting Starterware for the Beaglebone CPU board out-of-the box.
EC-Master for Sitara is shipped together with an high speed driver for the internal Ethernet MAC of the Microprocessor.
EC-Master for Starterware provides a sophisticated EtherCAT solution which customers can use to implement EtherCAT communication interface boards, EtherCAT based PLC or motion control applications.
The EC-Master architectural design does not require additional tasks to be scheduled, thus the full stack functionality is available even on an OS less platform like Starterware.
Due to this architecture combined with the high speed Ethernet driver it is possible to implement applications on the Sitara platform with short cycle times of 100 microseconds or below.
