semgine GmbH - INNO-WATT funds semantic search Web technology

IT, New Media & Software
Press release from: semgine GmbH
(openPR) - Berlin – July, 19th 2007. The innovation programme INNO-WATT funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) has granted the webFACTory project application of the Berlin based software company semgine GmbH. webFACTory aims to extend the search facilities of the semantic search technology semgine® by retrieval in Web sources.

The INNO-WATT programme ("Research & Development promotion of growth potentials in disadvantaged regions", www.inno-watt.de) selectively assists small & medium enterprises (SMEs) and supports faster development of promising technologies towards marketable products.

semgine GmbH specialises in semantic knowledge technologies and has developed the cutting-edge technology semgine® used to create semantic assistants. semgine® is based on a completely novel neurobionic approach and the first semantic retrieval solution which applies the principles of cognitive neurosciences to information processing.

The webFACTory project will provide technologies, which enable as well a semantic profiling as extraction of facts of Web sources. While conventional search engines compile a standard word-based full text index of the documents, semgine® compiles a semantic index which makes it possible to retrieve individual facts in documents very precisely.

"Public funding by the INNO-WATT programme shapes semgine® to an ideal tool for enterprises, in order to extract very precisely and targeted requested information from proprietary or Web sources and to compile them to reports." Dr Martin C. Hirsch, Managing Director of semgine GmbH points out.
