David Folsom, a partner at Jackson Walker and former Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, was recently appointed to serve on the Advisory Council to the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Effective Oct. 1, 2012, Judge Folsom will serve a three-year term as a member of the prestigious council, which was established to review, study, and make recommendations regarding the rules of practice and internal operating procedures of the court, and to serve as a conduit between the public and the court regarding the court’s procedural rules.

The Federal Circuit plays a key role in intellectual property and patent law because it has nationwide jurisdiction in this area, among others.

“I am pleased and honored to serve on the council, and I hope that my experience will be a benefit to my fellow board members,” Judge Folsom said.
