Zion Baptist Church of Marietta, Georgia was organized on April 8, 1866 with Reverend Ephraim B. Rucker as Pastor. Letters of dismissal were granted to eighty-eight black members of First Baptist Church, Marietta for the purpose of constituting this Church. Zion has been truly blessed over the years. Its membership has grown to over 1,200. With this growth, came the construction of a new 60,596 square feet sanctuary that opened in May 2007. Zion remains a leader in the Marietta, Georgia and Cobb County areas. Other churches, social and civic organizations look to Zion for leadership on all occasions and we continue to play an active role in the community.
