From smartphone to big screen: AOC launches 27″ myPlay with MHL connection

Dorsten, 17 October 2012 – Display specialist AOC once again presents a particularly innovative product. The myPlay monitor offers MHL™ functionality, targeting millions of Android users. With the MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) connection, videos and games from Android-based mobile devices will make it big in an instant. The myPlay – model number i2757Fm – displays the content from smartphones and tablet PCs on its large 68.6 cm (27″) high-grade IPS screen in Full HD resolution. When connected to the stylish LED monitor, the Android gadgets’ batteries are recharged as well.

Supersized Android fun and thrilling entertainment at home
MHL allows a direct connection between an MHL compatible smartphone or tablet PC and the myPlay display. It transfers high-resolution (1080p) video content and digital audio signals via a micro-USB/HDMI cable. At home, families and friends can enlarge any content that is displayed on their mobile device, such as websites, Youtube clips or other videos, photo collections and even documents to the myPlay’s full 27″ screen. When using the Android gadget as console, games develop a completely new fun factor: as the mobile device is charged when connected to the myPlay, there is no limitation in turns of battery life. On the 27″ (68.6 cm) screen, enthusiasts will just get the bigger kick out of their favourite Android games.

Practical value in the office as well
The myPlay is of excellent service in business environments as well. For small meeting rooms or quick presentations directly from the desk, it is the perfect solution. Present the latest photos or videos of constructions sites or other locations at the touch of a button – on a screen diagonal of almost 70 cm. Any video or photo recorded with a mobile phone, for instance, can directly be viewed on the i2757Fm in needle-sharp Full HD quality – without using a computer. As the myPlay literally mirrors all content that is shown on the Android device, it will also display calendars, PDFs, PowerPoint presentations or other office documents. As the required content can be saved to the tablet PC or smartphone, it is not necessary any more to store it on a network platform before presenting it. The possibility to have the required data in the pocket, ready to be displayed at any time, brings a new efficiency and top speed to presentations. Again, no time limitation due to the MHL charging function.

Clever teaching
Even in the educational sector, the i2757Fm can be of great use. As teachers can have their presentations, instructionals or video tutorials with them by saving it to their Android devices, the myPlay allows them to simply show it to the class. If the content is stored online, all the easier. No more fiddling about with easy-to-lose pen drives or connecting external storage hardware.

IPS technology for impressive images
The myPlay utilises a sophisticated IPS panel to display video content from the smartphone or other signal sources in outstanding quality. IPS (in-plane switching) technology stands for extra-wide viewing angles (up to 178° vert./horiz.) and exceptional colour fidelity. Thanks to advanced LED backlights, the Full HD display (1920 x 1080 pixels) boasts a brightness of 250 cd/m2. Combined with a typical contrast of 1000:1 (dynamic contrast: 20,000,000:1) and a response time of only 5 ms, the i2757Fm offers brilliant colours and crisp images without blurring – even in the most action-packed sequences.

Sleek design, exemplary features
Naturally, the myPlay also connects with conventional signal sources such as computers or gaming consoles. The i2757Fm offers an analogue D-sub port as well as two HDMI ports for transmitting high-resolution video and digital audio signals without any loss in quality. In addition, the model boasts helpful software such as Screen+, which allows dividing the screen into up to four panes, or i-Menu, which lets menu adjustments to be made with the mouse. Integrated speakers as well as a USB port for connecting flash sticks, hard drives, digital cameras and countless other devices to the computer via the monitor ensure even more user-friendliness. Thanks to the slim design with a black and silver finish, the myPlay is a real looker on any desk.

Strong performance, easy on the environment
Despite an outstanding performance, LED lightsources are particularly ecomonic. Thanks to the low power consumption and mercury-free production processes, the i2757Fm fulfills demanding certificates such as TCO 5.0 and EPEAT Silver, whilst intelligent operating modes offer further energy savings. The eSaver program adjusts the strength of the backlight to the ambient light, which not only significantly extends the LED backlights’ life expectancy but also improves visual comfort.
