Bronx, NY- October 10, 2012—Joseph David Roofing announced the completion of a roof installation for a major addition on the Bronx Lighthouse Academy, a charter school in New York. The 5 story addition needed a roof on almost every floor. Since all the construction was being done simultaneously, it was necessary to install 2 roofs: a temporary and then a permanent one. JDR needed to ensure the other trades could keep working and that the new roof wouldn’t be damaged by the ongoing construction. Once the scaffolding came down, the permanent roofs went on. The roof system consisted of tapered roof insulation and a fully adhered 60 mil Versico TPO white membrane roof system. The tapered insulation gave the roofs a nice new pitch for proper drainage.

The temporary roof installation provided several benefits to the customer. The temporary roofs were able to go up quickly, so as to not impede the other construction. Additionally, the company was able to prevent leaving the client with a new roof that already had patches from where other trades would necessarily penetrate or otherwise damage the roof. By incorporating temporary roofs and flood testing into the budget, the client received a clean, unmolested water-tight roof system. The new energy-efficient roof has a 20 year warranty.
