TRUMPF launches new TruLight 5000

Press release from: TRUMPF
TruLight 5000 multi-functional surgical light
TruLight 5000 multi-functional surgical light
The next generation of the TruLight 5000 multi-functional surgical light from TRUMPF Medical Systems is available with new features as of October 2012.

Adjustable color temperature and pattern size
Thanks to the latest technology cool white and warm white LEDs, the new TruLight 5000 has variable color temperature settings of between 3,500 and 5,000 Kelvin – which means that the contrast enhancement can be individually controlled. Another new feature is the ability to adjust the size of the pattern. The large illuminated area with its diameter of 23 cm can be reduced down to 16 cm; this is particularly advantageous for the minimally invasive surgical procedures that are being carried out ever more frequently. This means the TruLight 5000 illuminates just the area being worked on, which cuts down on reflections from the surroundings.

High color rendering index
The new TruLight 5000 offers a color rendering index of Ra 96. The TruLight 5500 model provides 160,000 Lux of brightness with 90 LEDs; the smaller TruLight 5300 version achieves 140,000 Lux with 60 LEDs. Both can be dimmed within a range of between 100 and 5 percent.

Optionally available with Adaptive Light Control Plus and Cameras
The TruLight 5000 can also be fitted with the Adaptive Light Control Plus optical lighting system. This automatically measures the distance between the light head and the surgical site, and adjusts the illumination to precisely suit each situation. Even when the light itself is repositioned, the individual light settings and the optimal illumination levels are not lost. The lighting intensity and the size of the pattern field can be adjusted quickly and in a sterile manner via a simple swipe of the thumb on the handle of the light head. For use in telemedicine the TruLight 5000 can be equipped either with the TruVidia SD or HD camera. The TruLight 5000 is available as a mobile lighting unit, can be wall mounted and also comes in a low-ceiling height version.

Easy handling
Introduced by TRUMPF in 2008 to complement the high-end iLED OR light, the TruLight 5000 OR light series are lightweight, slim and particularly easy to handle. Their efficient design makes TruLight 5000 a lightweight surgical lighting system that is easy to position and readily adaptable to the requirements of the surgery being performed.

Result of many years of experience
The successful optical lighting system provided by TRUMPF OR lights is the result of extensive research and many years of experience. TRUMPF was the first to introduce LED lights for use in OR in 2005. Since then, the company has installed more than 17,000 LED-based OR lights worldwide. The selection of the right LED technology, the lens geometry and the arrangement of LED elements in the light head are all influenced by a high degree of competence and long-term experience. Only the optimal combination of LEDs, lens and alignment will produce the desired lighting conditions. The TruLight 5000 LEDs are designed to have a lifespan of over 40,000 hours.

TRUMPF will be showing the new TruLight 5000 at its booth A42 in Hall 13 at the 2012 MEDICA trade fair from November 14 to 17 in Dusseldorf, Germany.
