Hindi Diwas at Sangam University Bhilwara Rajasthan
Press release from: Sangam University
The increasing popularity of Bollywood and the sheer richness of Indian culture across the globe, one should not be surprised if Hindi soon overtakes Chinese as the most spoken language in the world.
Language is the armory of the human mind, and at once contains the trophies of its past and the weapons of its future conquests.
Language is obviously a vital tool as it is not only a means of communicating thoughts and ideas, but it also forges friendships, cultural ties, and economic relationships.
No one in India today has doubt that language proficiency is surely the basis of learning, as well as a fundamental prerequisite of intellectual dexterity, and from there to top ranking jobs and personal growth. Its importance to a successful education system cannot be underestimated.
Throughout history, many have reflected on the importance of language. According to the noted scholar Benjamin Whorf Language shapes thoughts and emotions, determining one’s perception of reality. To quote John Stuart Mill “Language is the light of the mind."
It was on 14 September way back in 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India had adopted Hindi written in Devnagari script as the Official Language of the Union and hence the same day is observed as Hindi Diwas every year.
On the occasion of Hindi Diwas Day 2012, faculty members shared the importance of the day with the students and encouraged them to recite their original Hindi poems.
It goes without saying that language indeed shapes the way we think, and also determines what we can think about.
