Dancing Tango like the world champions, Tango workshop, La Rogaia Tango holidays in Italy, September 2012
What do have Argentine Tango and Ice dance in common?
Not to much in most cases, apart of the fact that both are beautiful to look at. Specially when they are performed by real good dancrs.
Rarely however do ice dancers succeed in capturing the flair of Argentine Tango beyond the widespread clichées.
Yet the ice dance couple Meryl Davis and Charlie White. achieved this in bravura fashion.
With an Argentine tango, they won the 2011 World Cup.
A significant contribution to this success made Daniela Pucci de Farias and Luis Bianchi, one of the most sought after tango teacher couples worldwide.
Both important prerequisites for winning the World Cup.
Daniela, Brazilian living in New York has been dancing Tango since 1999. Luis from Mar del Plata, Argentina, has been a professional Tango dancer since 1997.
Renowned Tango orchestras have been eager to work with them from the very beginning of their career as Tango dancers.
The theme of their Tango workshop at Villa La Rogaia is "Understanding Tango Milonguero, Tango de Salon and Tango Nuevo ".
They will teach their students a better understanding of the different styles and give them the tools to interpret the music individually.
Is a Tango course with teachers who led top ice dancers to the world championship not to demanding for me?
Some dancers may ask themselves that question.
But exactly here is the secret of Daniela and Luis.
They are really down to earth. They appreciate the people they work with, regardless whether they work with world champions or with quite “normal” Tango dancers.
One of their most important principles is that dancing Tango should be fun. And they understand to create a completely relaxed atmosphere in their Tango courses.
They attend to each of their students individually and very personally, and have the ability to find the hidden potential of each dancer, abilities the dancers themselves weren´t aware of before they made a Tango course with Daniela and Luis.
