Homeopathy Congress ICE 12: Science and Practice – a Dynamic Relationship
Press release from: Society for Homeopathy (Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft für Homöopathie - WissHom)
The 12th International Coethen Exchange of Experience (ICE), the Annual Congress of the Scientific Society for Homeopathy (WissHom), will take place in Köthen (Anhalt), Germany, from 25th to 27th October 2012. "How can a system of medicine such as homeopathy, which is so focussed on the individual patient, profit from scientific methodology? Can healing, or even the certainty of healing, exist? And: Can a scientific way of looking at things make any contribution to the answering of this question? – These are the central questions posed by the conference, and we have invited well-known researchers from both Germany and other countries, who will present answers for discussion within the framework of lectures, seminars and poster presentations," says Angelika Gutge-Wickert, Deputy Chair WissHom. In the area of Pure Research, Dr. José Teixeira (France) and Mag. pharm. Ilse Muchitsch (Austria) will speak about the unusual properties of water and the action of heavily diluted solutions on biological systems. Fundamental questions regarding Clinical Research will be discussed by Dr Clare Relton (U.K.), while Dr Elisabeth Thompson (U.K.) will present the results of a best case series (Homeopathy for cancer patients). Dr. Dominik Müller (Germany) will present the work carried out on the Materia Medica Revisa Homeopathiae (MMRH) by the group centred around Dr. Klaus Henning Gypser and, taking one of the botanical families as an example, a team of experts will critically evaluate the remedy-finding methods of various schools: Sankaran (Andreas Holling, Germany), Mangialavori (Dr. Klaus Roman Hör, Germany), Genuine Homeopathy (Dr. Anton Rohrer, Austria) and Kentian Case Analysis (Dr. Anne Sparenborg-Nolte, Germany). Dr. Carlos Néstor Cámpora (Argentina) will report on the homeopathic case documentation in the Argentinian Case Data Bank BRECHA, which he founded. Fundamental concepts of homeopathy are the subject of further contributions: Dr. Susanne Diez (Austria) will concern herself with subjectivity as a fundamental principle of homeopathy and the difficulty of using current medical scientific theory in homeopathy. Christoph Laurentius (Germany) will discuss the UNcertainty of healing and Dr. Anton Rohrer (Austria) the a priori certainty of healing: “this great ideal” of homeopathy will be subjected to a critical review. Ulrike Kessler, MSc Hom (Switzerland), and Michael Leisten, M. Edu. (Germany), will devote themselves to the topic of applying the latest scientific and didactic discoveries in homeopathic education and training. And finally, especially for students, Dr. Irmgard Schnittert (Germany) will portray her everyday practice at the interface of homeopathy, naturopathy and conventional medicine.
