AN ARRAY OF STARS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION - BERLIN DRAWS CELEBRITIES ONTO THE GREEN CARPET

Press release from: Clean Tech Media Award
Germany’s biggest environmental and media award, which distinguishes innovative and sustainable projects, will be given for the fifth time on the 7th of September in Berlin’s Tempodrom. The who-is-who of business, science, politics, culture and the media will attend this glamorous gala evening. The Clean Tech Media Award is supported throughout the year by a number of celebrities from music, film, radio and television.

Berlin. Other award ceremonies welcome guests and celebrities with the Red Carpet: the Clean Tech Media Award has a Green Carpet, made from real grass. Actress and anchor Nina Eichinger will this year host the Green Carpet, and invite our celebrity guests to be interviewed in front of her camera. Nina Eichinger has supported and acted as an ambassador for the Clean Tech Media Award as of the first ceremony in 2008. In the same year she sat on the independent jury for the first time as an environmental scientist.

The anchor-duo Ruth Moschner (ARD) and Jan Hahn (Sat.1) will act as master of ceremonies and accompany us through the evening on September the 7th 2012. They will welcome the speakers as well as the live acts on the green stage. “We all take decisions every day that influence whether the environment is protected and scarce resources saved. It starts with your morning coffee, continues through to your choice in transportation, right up to your entire organisation – the Clean Tech Media Award shows how simple sustainability in our every day lives actually is,” so explains Ruth Moschner her commitment to environmental award. In this, she is by far not the only one. Actors Kai Wiesinger and Christiane Paul will hold congratulatory speeches in front of the Clean Tech Media Award’s some 1000 guests. There, Christiane Paul knows exactly what she’s talking about. Her book “Life is an ecological Construction Site” was published last October and describes her attempt to lead an environmentally conscious lifestyle.

A sustainable lifestyle is also something Clean Tech Media Award’s long-standing ambassador Natalia Wörner aspires to. The well-known German actress is renovating her Farmhouse, located on the edge of Berlin, to an energy-efficiency-house; she even received and is following tips given by the initiators of the Clean Tech Media Award. One thing is for sure: Natalia Wörner is fully committed to the Clean Tech Media Award. In her own words “ the Clean Tech Media Award is as unique as it is important, in that it links sustainability with glamour. Innovations for a “Greener” world are thus put into the spotlight with passion and conviction. The Award deserves our full support!”

An event concerned with environmental protection would not be complete without actor and documentary filmmaker Hannes Jaenicke. For years now, he has been a dedicated and self-confessed environmental activist, and an ambassador for the Clean Tech Media Award. His bestseller “anger alone is not enough: how we can protect the Earth from ourselves” has already sold 30’000 copies. Singer and entertainer Thomas Anders will also hold a laudatory speech on the Green stage.

Marco Voigt, initiator and managing director of the Clean Tech Media Award, explains why the support of celebrity ambassadors is so important: „Our celebrity ambassadors and guests act as opinion-disseminators and role-models. They help expedite a change in society’s mentality through their passionate dedication. We also have strong partners from the economy, who are just as important to the Award as the submitted projects are”. The biggest supporter of this year’s Award is a well-known beverage-packaging producer that fully accepts its responsibility. “We acknowledge that economic growth should not occur at the expense of sustainable development. We express our accountability through our social commitment. This includes supporting the Clean Tech Media Award, with whom we share an important, common goal – anchoring sustainability considerations in society,” says Dr. Heike Schiffler, managing director at Tetra Pak Deutschland GmbH and member of the Clean Tech Media Award Jury. However, neither the celebrity speakers nor the supporters from the economy are the central actors of the Award. They all come together to honour and celebrate those who make our world a little bit greener through their sustainable innovations – the winners of the Clean Tech Media Award 2012.

The Clean Tech Media Award has been staged for the past five years by Clean Tech Media GmbH & Co. KG with the goal of promoting ecological and economic dedication, as well as the implementation of alternative technologies. This award is truly unique. The initiators and organisers Marco Voigt and Sven Krüger have dedicated themselves to it with a lot of enthusiasm. This won them Dr. Peter Ramsauer, minister for traffic, construction and urban development, as patron for this year’s Award. Many more celebrities, who dedicate themselves to the Award as, for example, ambassadors, as well as over 300 board members and CEOs of German companies have confirmed attendance.
