Fibre-Optic Based Digital Signal Delivery System Dubbed “Most Innovative”

New Milford, CT, USA, and High Wycombe, UK, 16 July 2012 – Magenta Research, a recognised leader in Pro AV signal switching, extension and distribution, was recently awarded a 2012 SCN/InfoComm Installation Product Award for having the Most Innovative Video Switching Product at June’s 2012 InfoComm exposition.

The fibre-optic based Voyager VG-Matrix 160 matrix switch beat out a host of competitors, including a Crestron DM product entry, to take the honour, which was officially announced in a special ceremony that took place in Las Vegas on June 12. The award program was overseen by NewBay Media’s System Contractor News (SCN) magazine.

The Voyager VG-Matrix 160 is a unique fibre-optic based matrix switch because of its considerable headroom—Voyager switching solutions can achieve a whopping 640 total ports—and the ability to configure any single port on Voyager’s 8-port I/O cards as an input or an output. Such options grant system integrators plenty of room for future application growth while providing a fully flexible system that can extend, distribute and switch digital (with HDCP) and analogue video, audio and serial to distances of 18.6 miles.

Typical digital video switches feature some delay when switching between sources, especially those with HDCP. Voyager matrix switchers can switch between all types of source content at extremely high speeds. “All of us at Magenta are really excited that the Voyager Series has been recognised with yet another coveted award,” stated Magenta President John Dace. “With all the new Voyager products and options we unveiled at InfoComm, Voyager has completed its evolution into a fully scalable and adaptable platform for signal distribution.”
